The New Legislative Framework includes eight modules (from A to H) plus their variations. The conformity assessment modules are, as follows:
A - Internal production control
- A1 refers to the internal production control and the respective supervised product checks
- A2 denotes to the internal production control and the supervised product checks at random intervals
B - EC-type examination, including the examination, verification and attestation of the product’s technical design with the applicable legislation. At the end of the examination, an EC-type certificate is issued. Once completed, other conformity assessment modules need to be followed to demonstrate the approved EC-type conformity.
C - Compliance to type based on internal production control
- C1 refers to the conformity to type based on internal production control along with supervised product testing
- C2 denotes the conformity to type based on internal production control and the supervised product checks at random intervals
D - Compliance to type based on quality assurance of the production process (i.e. manufacturing and inspection of the final product)
- D1 – a variation of assessment module D that refers to the quality assurance of the production process, including manufacturing and inspection of the final product
E - Compliance to type based on product quality assurance (similar to module D but it doesn’t include the manufacturing part)
- E1 - Quality assurance of final product review and testing (excluding the manufacturing part)
F - Compliance to type based on product verification
- F1 – a variation of assessment module F that refers to the conformity to type based on product verification
G - Conformity based on unit verification
H - Compliance based on a full quality assurance
- H1 – a variant of assessment module H, which refers to the conformity based on full quality assurance and design examination
